Notes

  1. The BGM is an arrangement of Edward Elgar's "Pomp and Circumstance #1" a.k.a. "Land of Hope and Glory". It was playbacked also in Legend "D" for SU-METAL's Birthday Celebration.
  2. It is a tango titled "だんご3兄弟" (Dango San Kyoodai; Three Brothers of Dumplings). It was performed in children's TV program targeted at 2-4 y.o.(?), but it appealed to people of all generations and the CD sold over three million copies.
  3. It is a Japanese rock band "GLAY". On 1999 Jul. 31st, it gathered an audience of two hundred thousand in the parking area of Makuhari Messe, near Tokyo.
  4. The Japanese notation is "由ありて結ばれる", but this explanation is strange. "由" is read as "yoshi" (as one-kanji word). It is read as "yui" only in few two-kanji words such as "由緒" (yuisho; history). There's no other one-kanji word read as "yui" than "結" in the dictionary. Since "結" is read as "musubu" too (the meanings are nearly same), when used for name, another kanji read as "i" is often attached (e.g. "結以", "結衣") to show the reading "yui". The attached kanji is often regarded as meaningless. "由" of "由結" may be attached for the same reason. I don't know whether her parents really meant "理由ありて結ばれる" (riyuu arite musubareru; to be tied by some reason) and 'he' only misheard it, or 'he' made up whole the story.
  5. YUIMETAL often said collecting seals was her hobby. Stamp-size stickers are called "seal" in Japan.
  6. YUIMETAL belongs to a girl group "Sakura Gakuin" (= Cherry Blossom School), but its membership is limited to 10-15 y.o. girls (in 5th-9th grade).

  2. Your note #2 says "an audience of twenty thousand" though the translation correctly says "audience of 200,000" for the Glay Expo '99 Survival. (I'm sure that slipped through because 万 is 10,000)

  3. Description of Notes 2: [twenty thousand 20.000] must be wrong. Should be [two hundred thousand 200.000]

  4. Yo Du Enki-san!

What do you think is up with the mysterious disappearance of Yuimetal?
Quite curious as to your thoughts.

    1. I was surprised that no clear explanation about the matter was given at Amuse's stock holders meeting in June, but they called performing without YUIMETAL "a challenge" or rather "an attempt" in English, and they said they neither affirm nor deny that YUIMETAL will come back to BABYMETAL's show, so I don't think the main cause of her absence is her health condition and I guess the possibility of her coming back to BABYMETAL's show is low.

I don't know her real health condition, but in March, Ms. YAMAIDE Aiko wrote in her Sakura Gakuin diary that she had recently communicated with Ms. Yui but she didn't mentioned Ms. Yui's health condition though she is, so to say, Ms. Yui's follower, and in July, some fan asked Ms. TAGUCHI Hana about Ms. Yui and she answered "Yui is fine" (so the fan tweeted) though she could dodge the question saying like "I don't know because I haven't seen her lately".

I guess Amuse Inc. can't make a clearer announcement at present for some reason, but I want them to make it as soon as possible, and I restrain myself from presenting more of my conjectures for now.

  5. I too will refrain from making conjectures. However...

    ...the imagination does go wild.
